Finger foods are my go to thing to make for party food. Fast finger foods are even better! Anything that can be made or assembled with minimal cooking or time are perfect. I also like things that can be done ahead or in stages as with 4 kids there is no free time. The below 5 fast finger foods are Art and Craft themed using bright rainbow colours to create an arty feel. There are no complicated recipes and most are made with things you probably have in your fridge and cupboard right now.
You will need: strawberries, chocolate melts, different coloured sprinkles, paddle pop sticks or cake pop sticks.
Cut the top of each strawberry and insert a stick
Melt the chocolate in a bowl or cup that will allow you to dip the strawberry
Dip the strawberry in the chocolate. You can either fully cover the berry or just half dip the berry.
Coat the bottom half of the berry in sprinkles. Using different colours will make each one look like they have paint on them.
Do this for every berry and allow the chocolate to set. I use a cooling rack to hang the berries from so the coating is even (pass the stick through the holes and have the berry on top of the rack)
You could also use bananas halves and freeze them to stop the banana browning. You can also serve them with a little tub of sprinkles and melted chocolate (or Nutella) and allow kids to dip their own but be prepared for more of a clean up and possible double (or triple) dips
Paint Palette Cookies
You will need: arrowroot biscuits, MnMs, white icing
Cover each biscuit in white icing, preferably one the sets a little so they can be stacked on a plate for display
Put 5 different colour MnMs around one edge to look like paint dollops
Once the icing is set you can place them on the plate.
Fairy Bread Stickers
You will need: bread, butter, sprinkles, cookie cutters
Butter the bread and cover with sprinkles
Use the cookie cutters to cut shapes from the bread. Make sure you press hard to cut all the way through.
Arrange on a plate and they look like sparkle stickers.
Rainbow Fruit Cups
You will need: clear cups, strawberries, mandarins, green kiwi fruit, pineapple, blueberries
Simply cut the fruit into bite size pieces and layer in the cup like a rainbow – red, orange, yellow, green, blue. Use any fruit that is in season to create your layers.
Serving it in a plastic cup makes it easy for little hands to pick them out and eat, or you can serve with a fork or toothpicks so fingers stay cleaner.
Vanilla Cupcakes with Sprinkles
You will need: cupcakes, rainbow cupcake liners, white icing, sprinkles
Bake vanilla or butter cupcakes in the rainbow liners.
Once cooled ice the cupcakes with white icing to enhance the rainbow liners colours. Ice them however you feel comfortable – pipe it on or just use a knife and spread it evenly on top.
Top each cupcake with a different coloured sprinkle. Alternatively leave the sprinkles off and let the liners do all the ‘popping’.
