If you are heading to a trunk or treat decorating the car can be quite a stressful, expensive and time consuming affair. There are quite a few awesome trunks to be found on the internet and it can be a bit intimidating but we have got 3 easy, cheap but still awesome ideas for you.
This is for those who like the minimalist look but like to offer an experience to go with the treats. To make a Mystery Boot cover the back with black plastic like garbage bags so that no one can see in but cut a few holes for kids to stick their hands though. Along with each hole have a container of something for them to feel, gross stuff really adds to the feel. Of course in one hole is the lollies or treats for them to pick one. The other holes could be things like olives for eye balls, cooked spaghetti is guts, thick jelly is brains or vegetables in a sauce could be vomit. I told you gross things but the kids love them. You might want to offer a wash bucket or wipes for after they feel each one. Also consider covering the carpet in your car because there will be spills.
This one involves cardboard and paper and not much else. Its simply using the card to make your car a monster however you see it. If the boot opens upwards adding teeth is a good look with a big tongue hanging out. One eye or 5 eyes on the top, coloured dots or stripes over the body of the car, whatever tickles your fancy. And don’t be limited to cardboard, look around your home and see what you could use, a fluffy blanket could be fur, broken toys could be in the mouth for what he is eating. Be creative and have fun with it.
Under the Sea
With some balloons, paper plates and party streamers you can create an underwater garden. Get the kids involved by having them make paper plate sea creatures – fish, crabs, turtles, octopus and clams are all easy and don’t require much cutting. Blue balloons as a wall in the back of the car become the water that you can tape the sea creatures too. To hang the balloons create wall of string and tie the balloons on. If you collect bread ties they can be an easy way to hook balloons on without having to fuss with tying each one. If you have a cage or barrier in the back its perfect for attaching balloons. Add some seaweed streamers either on the floor or hanging from the roof for kids to walk through and the ocean is complete.
